Fortitude Valley Markets [FREE]
When: Every Saturday and Sunday 9am -4pm
Where: Brunswick Street Mall
The Valley Markets has a diverse range of vintage clothing, knick knacks, and accessories. It makes for a nice afternoon as it is located next to Brunswick Street, home to many of Brisbane’s popular restaurants. Night Markets are expected to start soon as well.

Ben & Jerry’s Open Air Cinema [$10 Concession]
When: Sept 29 – Nov 13
Where: South Bank Parklands, at the Rainforest Green
Celebrate the start of summer by seeing some of your favorite flicks on the big screen outdoors! There will be a wide variety of films played on different nights. Plus, the best perk to this has to be their free sundaes on Sundays! Book a Sunday showing and Ben & Jerrys will be giving out free ice cream during your movie. Live In Concert- Delta Goodrem [From $91]

A Conversation on Making a Murderer- Discussion Tour [$71]
When: Nov 6
Where: QPAC in South Bank
Were you one of the captivated viewers of Netflix’s popular documentary, Making a Murderer? QPAC’s description: “A Conversation on Making a Murderer will involve the two attorneys in conversation about the Steven Avery case and its broader implications, will also feature the pair in a moderated discussion regarding the systematic failures of the criminal justice system. This will include a Q&A giving the audience a unique opportunity to address questions with both Strang and Buting.”

Brisbane Thai Festival [FREE]

Come experience a celebration of all things Thai! You will be able to see Thailand’s vibrant traditions, taste it’s delicious authentic foods, and show your appreciation for the Thai culture.

Moreton Bay Multicultural Fiesta [FREE]

Where: Pine Rivers Park, Strathpine
Moreton Bay is ready to celebrate its diversity again with its annual multicultural festival showcasing cultures from around the globe. You will be able to endulge in foods from different countries, listen to live music, and participate in cultural activities that you may have never heard of before!

UFC Fight Night: Alvarez vs McGregor [FREE Entry]

Miami Marketta – Street Food Market [FREE]
When: Every Wednesday, Friday & Saturday night, 5pm to 10pm.
Where: 21-21 Hillcrest Parade, Miami
Watch Miami come alive with Gold Coast’s first street food markets from all different nationalities – complete with a dessert hall! Street food brings together an eclectic and authentic food mix in an open air dining experience. The main stage hosts local independent blues, jazz, and indie alternative artists.

Up Late at The Oracle Boulevard [FREE]

The entire Oracle Boulevard is shut down and lit up with DJ sets, eats and drinks al fresco style! Mingle and dine at the ultimate dining destination on the GC.

Yoga Meditation [$5]

Yoga meditation is where you focus your mind on the sound vibration of a mantra. It is a simple yet effective form of meditation that takes your cares and worries away. You will instantly feel relaxed and rejuvenated ready for the challenges of a new week. The night will start with an introduction to meditation and breathing exercises. Then we will practise the art of meditation followed by a delicious dessert.

Surfers Paradise Beachside Night Markets [FREE]

Wander along the coastal stretch of more than 120 market stalls, while live entertainers set a casual mood. One of the largest of the Gold Coast Night Markets, the Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets feature a variety of premium products, including fashion, jewellery, accessories, artworks, photographs, beauty products and décor (pick up some unique stuff for family and friends back home!)

Surfers Paradise ParkRun [FREE]
When: Every Saturday from 7am
Where: Evandale Parklands (meet on the southern side of Evandale Lake)
ParkRun organise weekly, 5km timed runs. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. These events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and people of all abilities are encouraged to take part.

Red Bull Water Maze [$30 entry]
When: Saturday, Nov 19
Where: Quota Park, Marine Parade, Biggera Waters
The stand up paddle (SUP) boarding community will flood the intricate waterways of Runaway Bay, Gold Coast on Saturday 19th November for the return of the Red Bull Water Maze. An orienteering style format encourages competitors of all abilities to test not only their SUP skills, but also their endurance and strategy. All competitors will race simultaneously with a variety of divisions to suit all participants.

Barre by the Beach [FREE]

Barre by the Beach is a fun free class mixing a dynamic blend of ballet barre techniques, yoga flows and pilates exercises. Meet near the corner of Nagel St and Marine Parade Nobby’s beach – in the park by the beach.

Stand up Comedy Night [FREE]
When: Every Monday night from 7.30pm
Where: Broadbeach Tavern, Old Burleigh Road, Broadbeach
Some of the best stand-up comedians from around the country take to the stage to entertain you. The venue also hosts a Sunday Session featuring local and national bands and DJ’s.

National Kiteboarding League [FREE]
When: Nov 18-20
Where: Main Beach
The NKL is set to make a big return in 2016 with bigger airs, bigger prize money and bigger opportunities. With a $10,000 prize pool up for grabs, the 6-Round NKL Series will head across the country in search of Australia and New Zealand’s best male and female kiteboarders. ‘Hip on Heritage’ Short Film Festival [$12.75]

The Mount Lawley Society is proud to present the first ‘Hip on Heritage Short Film Festival’, a festival showcasing this historic area in film. Both budding and accomplished filmmakers have been invited to enter a film that is seven minutes or less in length.

Newtown Festival [Donation entry]
When: Nov 14-15
Where: Camperdown Memorial Rest Park, bound by Australia St, Lennox St, Church St and Federation Road, Newtown
Back for it’s 38th year, the Newtown festival will feature 300 stalls selling food, fashion, arts and crafts. There will be live music playing throughout the day on the federation stage and this year the Dog Show is back.

MCA’s Spring Yoga series [FREE]
When: Every Thursday until January from 5:30pm – 6:15pm
Where: MCA, Circular Quay
Head to the MCA for a 45 minute Vinyasa Yoga class with some of the best views in Sydney. Classes are held on the outdoor sculpture terrace, with nibbles and live music if you choose to hang around. Although this event is free you do need to book.

Bare Essentials Laneway Party [From $40]
When: Saturday, Nov 5 from 2pm
Where: UTS Laneway & Underground, 15 Broadway Ultimo
Known for its rooftop parties, Bare Essential will take over the UTS Laneway and Underground to bring you three stages of live music. The party offers food and cheap drinks. The headliners are international artists such as Hanfry Martinez (Spain) and Half Baked’s Julietta (Germany).

Where: The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA)
Experience art into the evening with the MCA’s extended hours every Thursday until 9pm. Take part in a free workshop, enjoy the current exhibitions and hear talks by curators and other creative thinkers. Enjoy this with a glass of wine, a bite to eat and music from Sydney DJs on the MCA Sculpture Terrace.

Live Music at The Island [$55-65]

Where: The Island, Sydney Harbour Around Bondi
Sydney’s floating bar The Island presents The Island Live. Dance as the sun goes down to international DJ’s. Tickets are bound to sell out fast so book soon! Tickets include return water taxis from the Man O’War steps and two free drinks on arrival.

Glebe Street Fair [FREE]

Where: Glebe Point Rd, Glebe
Australia’s longest street fair, the Glebe Street Fair transforms a one kilometre stretch of road in celebration of the local community and culture. The 2016 program will include over 200 street stalls, food, talks and workshops. There will be live music and DJ’s playing on three music stages around the suburb as well as a pop-up bar and DJ competition. This year the Fair is celebrating it’s history by bringing back a legendary spectacle from the event’s first year, the Greatest Waiter Race.

Round She Goes Fashion Market [$2]

Where: Marrickville Town Hall, Marrickville Road, Marrickville
Round She Goes Fashion Market is for those who love quality preloved designer and vintage fashion at a fraction of RRPs. 60 stalls will feature numerous preloved Australian labels as well as high quality vintage sourced from all around the world. Stallholders will also be selling jewellery and fashion by some of Sydney’s own up and coming designers.

MADE Sydney [$15]
When: 12-10pm Saturday 12 & Sunday 13 November
Where: Carriageworks, 245 Wilson Street, Eveleigh
MADE is a one of a kind event that celebrates the best of Sydney’s fashion, skate and music scene. It is an opportunity to experience Sydney’s unique creative culture. The event will feature retail stores, food trucks and a bar. Various Dj’s will be performing throughout the weekend, Dj line up to be announced soon! The premier screening of a documentary about the life and work of photographer Slim Aarons will be screened over the weekend.

Sculpture by the Sea [FREE]
When: Thursday October 20 – Sunday November 6
Where: Around Bondi
Now in its 20th year, Sculpture by the Sea is one of Sydney’s key annual arts events, drawing more than 500,000 to the 2km coastal walk from Bondi to Tamarama to enjoy site-specific sculptures by top artists and emerging talents from Australia and abroad.

The Rubens [FREE]

The Laurels bring their great live performance to Rad Bar to promote last months release of their 2nd album, Sonicology. The Music describes them as “Probably the best live band in Sydney…. What The Laurels are doing is special. There’s no better way to express it.”

Vegan Eats Brew and Food Fest [FREE]

More bars more noodles more nights and brighter lights! The Night Noodle Markets are back for 18 nights this November once again lighting up the banks of the Yarra at Birrarung Marr with a record 56 stalls and 3 bars. Expect to see old favourites like Longrain, Wonderbao, Red Spice Road and Hoy Pinoy return with their signature dishes as well as some brand new flavours from dumpling experts Din Tai Fung Delhi Streets and Asian new kids on the block Hawker Hall.

Melbourne Design Market [FREE]
When: Nov 6
Where: Carpark below Federation Square
Melbourne’s original design market returns ahead of the Christmas shopping rush to attracts lovers of versatile fashion, homewares, and jewelry. This year, Melbourne Design Market will be featuring a selection of hero designers including fashion designer Miranda Dix, who is known for her technology-driven designs, and Koncent, a Japanese brand introducing innovative Japanese homewares to Melbourne. Located in the carpark below Federation Square, Melbourne Design Market will be a great day to check out the latest designs by Melbourne’s entrepreneurial designers and artists as well great food and coffee from The Bean Alliance.

The Esplanade Market [FREE]
When: Every Sunday from Nov 6
Where: St Kilda Beach Esplanade
With the weather warming up it’s time to head down to the beach and the St Kilda Esplanade Market. Every Sunday, Melbourne’s finest creative folk gather in endless stalls, arranged in line with the palm trees which stand tall on St Kilda’s mighty esplanade. Since the 1970s, the market has featured emerging talent in design and handicrafts – think artwork, photography, illustration, jewellery, body products and stationary.

Poppyseed Theatre Festival [$28]
When: Nov 8 – Dec 11
Where: Various theatres in Melbourne
Last year marked the debut of Poppy Seed; a festival in which four bold new theatrical works were selected by an artistic panel comprising many of Australia’s pre-eminent theatre professionals. Blessed (Nov 8-19) by Attic Erratic is a brutal love story following the lives of two strangers whose luck in life has fallen short. LadyCake (Nov 15-26) by Three Birds Theatre places Marie Antoinette under a modern lens, telling the story of the everyday girl’s battle with gossip, assumption, speculation and physical criticism. What’s Yours Is Mine (Nov 22-Dec 3) by Hotel Now asks: how much am I worth? Director Yvonne Virsik, explore a capitalist, entitled Australia obsessed with the idea of ownership. F. (Nov 30-Dec 10) by Riot Stage explores a young person’s introduction to sex in the 21st century. These four pieces run from November to December across numerous Melbourne venues, including The Butterfly Club, Trades Hall and Malthouse Theatre.

Underground Cinema: Dare to Dream [$65]
When: Nov 10-19
Where: Secret Location in Melbourne
Get your adrenaline pumping at a night of immersive cinema, but shhhh… it’s a secret. The most (un)talked about immersive cinema experience returns to Melbourne. This time, we must Dare to Dream. Underground Cinema has been in the live immersive cinema business for seven years and has recreated more than 30 filmic worlds. Arriving feels like walking onto a film set, full of actors, costumes and props (and an onsite bar). The clues so far? It’ll fall within the sci-fi/thriller genre. The invite features a quote from American poet, Langston Hughes: “Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly”.

Melbourne Music Week [FREE and ticketed events]
When: Nov 11-19
Where: Various venues around the city
Melbourne Music Week (MMW) captivates the city with a nine-day program dedicated to illuminating connections between music, people and places within the city’s world-renowned music scene. Made up of 110 events featuring 240 artists with input from more than 65 dedicated programming partners, MMW’s breadth will be felt in 40 locations across this music city. There is a heap of ticketed and free events, including a free event Live at the Steps held on the steps of Parliament House on the 11th November.
