This holiday season we had the opportunity to volunteer with an awesome Chicago-based charity called Holiday Heroes. The organization hosts parties and celebrations in local hospitals for children who are hospitalized due to a critical or chronic illness. A little fun and silliness can go a long way in cheering up kids, and their families, who are stuck in the hospital, so it’s Holiday Heroes’ mission to create happy memories during dark and difficult times.

Our team spent an evening putting together craft packs and making decorations for an upcoming holiday party at a local hospital.

Holiday Heroes is such a fun organization, so it’s no surprise that we really had fun volunteering with them. How can you not have a smile on your face painting giant colorful snowflakes? Or making a “poké-a-tree” filled with small presents in each cup!

TEAN also made a donation to Holiday Heroes to help cover supplies and other costs for the events they host throughout the year.

Our very own Director of Programs and Development, Russ Alexander, volunteered to attend the Holiday Heroes party as Santa and see the party we had helped prepare for come to life. It’s incredible to see how special these events are to the people they touch – watch the news story here.

Our Chicago office plans to continue volunteering with this organization throughout the year as they host parties for all different holidays and celebrations. If you would like to learn more about Holiday Heroes and the work that they do, please visit holiday-heroes.org
