Education New Zealand Go Overseas Scholarship

Award Amount: $15,000 plus a round-trip flight
Deadline: Usually in October for Spring, Summer or Fall semester
Details: Designed to encourage more students to consider beautiful New Zealand as a study abroad destination, this scholarship will cover any NZ program tuition and fees! The application requires a short essay and a creative photo. You can also start the application now and log back in later to complete it.
Eligibility: Must be a student in the U.S. or Europe

The University of Otago in New Zealand offers study abroad scholarships for TEAN students

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships

Award Amount: Up to $5,000
Deadline: Usually in early October for study in Spring semester
Details: Education New Zealand partners with the Gilman Foundation to give extra scholarship funds to students going to New Zealand who apply for a Gilman scholarship, so you have a greater chance to win a Gilman award than if you studied elsewhere! You’ll need to have proof of program acceptance in order to receive your disbursement from the Gilman funds, so make sure you’re working on your TEAN Application at the same time to be accepted as soon as possible.
Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Citizen and be receiving Federal Pell-Grant

Education New Zealand Generation Study Abroad Awards

Award Amount: $2,000 Travel Award and $500 Excellence Award
Deadline: Usually early December for study in Spring semester or April for study in Fall semester
Details: One application allows you to conveniently apply for both the travel and excellence awards at the same time. If you receive an award, you’ll also be invited to be a Kiwi Ambassador for Education New Zealand, and asked to share your study abroad experience via social media!
Eligibility: Must be a U.S. citizen OR resident, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be studying for at least one semester

University of Auckland TEAN Scholarships

Award Amount: Up to $5,000
Deadline: Usually November for study in Spring semester, May for study in Fall semester
Details: University of Auckland has partnered together with TEAN to give three incredible scholarships  opportunities to students planning to spend a semester at UofA! The People & Place scholarship and Choose Earth scholarship are major- related, but the Merit scholarship is only based solely on your academic achievements. These awards are only available to TEAN students going to University of Auckland, so your likelihood of receiving a scholarship award is quite high.
Eligibility: Must meet the University of Auckland entry requirements, must have a 3.0 GPA. For the Choose Earth Scholarship, you must be majoring in a field related to environmental science/management or sustainability and enroll in two classes at the University of Auckland relating to the environment or sustainability. For the People & Place Scholarship, you must be majoring in a field related to indigenous studies, anthropology, sociology, or history and enroll in two classes at the University of Auckland relating to Maori or Pacific Island studies or New Zealand history and culture.

TEAN Full-Ride, Merit, Need and Diversity Scholarships

Deadline: Usually October for study in Spring semester and all Full-Ride (spring and fall) applicants. March for study in Summer semester. April for study in Fall semester.
Details: With TEAN’s full-ride scholarship, you’ve got another opportunity to receive $15,000 to cover tuition and program fee costs. This application is one single application, where you can indicate how many of the categories you’d like to apply for. You’ll need to provide insight into how the categories relate to yourself and goals for studying abroad. You can apply for these scholarships before being accepted to a TEAN program to help you plan ahead for your study abroad experience.

Other New Zealand University Scholarships

When applying to the TEAN scholarships, you’re automatically entered for the available university-specific scholarships at the school which you’ll be attending. These scholarships range from NZ$1,000 to $5,000. You can see all current school-specific scholarships here.
Eligibility: Must have a completed statement from university, must meet the GPA and eligibility requirements for the program you’re applying for. For need-based, students must provide their financial aid award letter.
