It’s that time of year again, folks! Last week was the 6th annual TEAN Fun Run/Walk at NAFSA. Since the initial Fun Run, TEAN has donated more than $27,000 to various charities. This year, our selected charity for the event was Family Tree.
Family Tree is a local Denver charity that provides services designed to empower and change the lives of victims of abuse, domestic violence and homelessness. Family Tree strives to “change how individuals, families and communities, see, respond to and overcome” these issues.
TEAN made a donation on the behalf of everyone who participated at the event in Denver. Our Chicago office joined in on the fun and went for a local Fun Walk together around the city as well.
With the help of those who participated, TEAN was able to donate $5,000 to Family Tree. This charity has a special connection to TEAN, as Scott Shields, the CEO, is a childhood friend of our TEAN Founder and CEO, Chris Shepherd. Scott has mentioned before that fundraising for Family Tree is difficult, so TEAN is thrilled to be able to support this charity and their important work.
In addition to the monetary donations, TEAN was also able to donate the furniture used at our NAFSA booth to Family Tree. Several of our partners and other international education organizations at NAFSA also contributed.
A special shout-out to this year’s top three finishers:
- David Harrison, Macquarie University
- Stuart Floyd, Bond University
- Morgan Clark, University of New South Wales
Thank you to everyone who participated in the TEAN Fun Run and supported Family Tree. We enjoyed spending time with you in Denver. There are photos from the event posted on our TEAN Facebook page.
