Itinerary

Sample Itinerary

Note:  Itinerary is subject to change dependent on when you study abroad.

Day One

Arrive in Cairns and move into your hotel for the week. We’ll kick off with a welcome session and walking tour of the city, followed by a celebratory group dinner.

Day Two

Now it’s time to get out and explore! This day focuses on the indigenous people of Australia and the country’s natural environment. We will explore the rainforest and learn about the Aboriginal community. We will also visit a nature park and get the opportunity to meet some emus and kangaroos face-to-face.

DAY three

This morning will be a series of interactive sessions and workshops to help prepare you for your semester in Australia. We will cover Aussie culture, academic differences and expectations, semester logistics and personal goal setting. In the afternoon you’ll have some free time for extra activities not in the group schedule.

Day Four

Today is a wild full-day reef experience. You will get to the opportunity to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef along with the option of testing out your scuba skills with an introductory dive. Experience an area of this natural wonder that remains largely unaffected by coral bleaching while learning more about the environmental issues at hand and how we can protect the reef for the future from a marine biologist working in the region. We’ll end the week as a group with a farewell dinner in the evening.

Day Five

It’s time to say goodbye, but this is just the beginning of your Australian experience. Head to the airport first thing in the morning for your flight to your host city. Your local Resident Director will be there to welcome you and help you move into your accommodation.

Optional Activities

Optional Activities

You will have a free afternoon to explore and book additional activities you want to do while in Cairns. We have pre-reserved space for recommended events. Some options include sea kayaking, hot air ballooning, whitewater rafting and more. Of course, you might just want to relax and spend time at the pool, which is okay too!
