Want to study abroad in Australia but having trouble planning with your semester schedule?

Most Australian universities have an academic calendar that follows the seasons with the summer being from December through February. Because of this the traditional Aussie academic calendar has semesters from February to June and July to November.

The Aussie student calendar can be challenging to fit around the typical U.S. college semester, but TEAN now offers three Australian study abroad programs that correspond with most U.S. student calendars so you can spend a semester down under without giving up your summer break or missing prior obligations.

  • Spring semester runs from January to April

Study abroad at the University of New South Wales, Sydney (UNSW Sydney)

Ranked in the top 50 universities in the world and third in Australia by the QS World University Rankings, this Sydney-based university will introduce U.S.-friendly terms starting in 2019. Located between the city center and the beach, The University of New South Wales offers diverse courses, and is particularly popular for its business and psychology programs. In fact, the university ranks second in Australia and twenty-second in the world for business and management, while its accounting and finance departments rank first in Australia and tenth in the world. The psychology program comes in at #2 in Oz and #20 worldwide.

  • Fall semester at UNSW Sydney runs from early September to mid-December
  • Spring semester runs from early February to mid-May

Study abroad at International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS)

With a focus on hospitality, tourism and event management, this private business college allows you to complete coursework as well as an internship during your semester abroad. While the emphasis here is on real-world experience, you’ll still have ample time to enjoy life on the coast just outside Sydney.

  • Fall semester at ICMS runs from early September to mid-December
  • Spring semester runs from early February to mid-May
