About QUT
- Known in Australia as a university for the ‘real world’ due to its links with industry, relevant teaching and applied research. Industry representatives and professionals contribute to the development of courses ensuring that students are gaining a practical perspective to their theoretical education.
- QUT’s business school was the first in Australia to achieve “triple crown” international accreditation (EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA), held by less than 1% of business schools in the world.
- QUT’s communication and media, and nursing programs are both ranked in the top 50 in the world (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020).
- Links with international leaders such as Boeing, Microsoft and the United Nations ensure that courses respond to changing employer demands, and QUT’s graduate employment rates are among the best in Australia.
- QUT is the state’s largest university, with 50,000 students, of whom nearly 10,000 are international students from more than 100 countries.
- Study at one of two campuses – Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove – in Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland.
- Gardens Point is the only university campus in Brisbane’s city center. Situated on the Brisbane River next to the City Botanic Gardens, the location reinforces QUT’s links with business and industry while creating a dynamic, beautiful environment for students.
- Known as QUT’s “hilltop” campus, Kelvin Grove is a little more than one mile from the city center and only a 10-minute bus drive from the Gardens Point campus via the free intercampus bus.

We Love QUT
Carol Doecke
Resident Director - Gold Coast & Brisbane
Originally from the United States of America, Carol grew up in both the hill country of Texas and the big city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school, she spent three years traveling the United States and volunteering in veterans’ homes and hospitals across the nation. Falling in love with travel, Carol was ready to see the world beyond her country and took the leap of studying abroad during her tertiary studies. While studying abroad with TEAN, Carol fell in love with the Gold Coast of Australia and found herself calling it home. After graduating from The West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Communication, she moved to Australia full time. Carol is keen to be on the path of helping other students fall in love with this city and country through interactive and culturally immersive experiences. She has experienced first-hand all the challenges and triumphs that come with studying abroad and is enthusiastic about guiding other students on their own journeys.
